This is a site dedicated to the thoughts, comments, views and opinions of a transplanted Jamaican who - through the love, support and toleration of his family - makes his opinions known. Filters on written content may - or may not - be applied, depending on the side of the bed one gets up from, the impact of dreams the nights before, and so forth. CAUTION: A bizarre mix of Jamaican, British, American and LGBT humor is found throughout this blog.

*sigh* JOE, JOE, JOE, JOE, JOE..........
I know you mean well.
I like you for your honest and well intentions.
I WOULD trust you with my life - you are a good man.
HOWEVER, your comments on 'The Today Show' this morning - thought well intentioned - were damaging.
Why don't you distract yourself with something else....SAY! LOOK! A frail old woman is trying to cross they busy street!
Why don't you try and help her an leave this entire 'swine flu' commentary to the World Health Organization and the CDC?

GAY MARRIAGES NOW LEGAL IN.....IOWA?
Effective today, gay marriage is now legal in Iowa.
Iowa.
In the heart of the conservative mid-west.
Cornfields and livestock - where men are men and sheep are afraid.
Iowa.
Where last year's Gay Pride Parade consisted of a closet queen taking his broken horse to the glue factory while pulling a wagon filled with flowers for the market.
IOWA.
NOW RECOGNIZES GAY MARRIAGE.
I have only ONE thing to say: YOU GO GIRL!!!!
(Girls, the wagon-train forms to the left!)

BEA ARTHUR - YOU'LL ALWAYS BE MY GOLDEN GIRL
Beatrice Arthur, born May 13, 1922, won fame and attention with her performances on TV staples such as the 'The Sid Caesar Show', from various performances on Broadway, from her acclaimed roles on 'All in the Family' and 'Maude', and lastly - and for me - more importantly - as Dorothy on hit series 'The Golden Girls'.
A tall girl with a deep voice, Bea Arthur beat the odds to be become a success in Hollywood...becoming a respected and beloved artiste who performed with icons such as Lucille Ball.
My first awareness of Bea Arthur was in her ground-breaking role in the sitcom 'Maude'...I stayed up late at night in the '70s to watch her show that was controversial for it's time for the topics covered. I laughed and cried with Maude, and then later laughed some more with Dorothy as Bea lent her talents and skills to making all these characters come alive.
Bea Arthur - my inspiration, my youthful pleasure, my secret idol - thank YOU for being a friend.

OVERHEARD.......
From this weeks episode of Bill Maher's HBO's talk show "Real Time with Bill Maher":
"We here in California have a contest winner of our own who's making news - you know who I'm talking about, right? Miss California says that that her answer in a contest opposing gay marriage and favoring "opposite marriage".......is what cost her her crown.
Well let's see - she's extremely Christian, she's kinda hot....and she's dumb. Looks like the Republicans have a new vice presidential candidate....!"
(Pa-da boom!)
THE SMARTEST MAN IN THE WORLD IS......GAY?
Tammet ignited our imagination, first with the 2005 U.K. documentary Brainman and more recently through his appearance on 60 Minutes, each chronicling his talents for numbers and language. He once recited the irrational number pi to more than 22,000 decimal places from memory, a feat that took five hours, set a European record, and raised thousands of dollars for charity. He learned Icelandic--one of the world's trickiest languages--in just one week.
While his nickname at school was "Rain Man," Tammet is mentally more agile than Dustin Hoffman's character. (Though equally cinematic--Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned Born on a Blue Day for adaptation into a feature film.) Furthermore, Tammet, who was diagnosed at age 25 with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, has a remarkable ability to explain how his brain functions.
Tammet, now 28, grew up in a poor family in London, where his parents managed to cope with his autism and childhood epilepsy while raising eight younger children. Tammet first became aware of his homosexuality at age 11. He endured a spell of unrequited love at 16 (he consoled himself by listening to his favorite singer, Karen Carpenter). At 20 he met Neil Mitchell, a computer programmer. Six months later they moved in together in a house an hour outside of London. Tammet doesn't believe there's a neurological link between his homosexuality and his extraordinary mental abilities. There is a connection in his life, however: Both have helped him understand and appreciate the wide range of human experience.
What once made him a "freak" on the playground, he says, now makes him friends around the world.

"JONATHAN, JUST BECAUSE"
Having recently been laid off from their current jobs they conspired with close friends to produce the short film "Jonathan, Just Because", which premiered recently in mid-Manhattan.
It's cute, it's sassy, it's from the heart - five out of five stars! ("I do believe in true love! I DO believe in true love!")
ENJOY!

HEARD ON THE STREET
It’s like the city puked up all its people.
I’ll either have to slut it up or get married.
They’ve tried to turn their newspaper into an Internet.
We had no reason to stand up straight in the ’90s.
When I start killing people, I will most likely kill you first.
When isn’t it herpes time?
I’m here. I just don’t like you anymore.
I want to see her fat one more time so I can feel better about myself.
It’s too hot to be sober.

Palm Pre to kill the iPhone?
The Palm Pre unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year, has been widely discussed as a possible iPhone killer. While it's received a wealth of attention, is it truly a phone packing as much punch as the claims? Could it really give the iPhone a run for its money, affording Palm the chance to mount a comeback?
Unlike the majority of phone companies, Palm has not released a new phone model since the various Treos that have been released since 2007. Its new Palm Pre smartphone is a major redesign, built completely on an a Linux-based version, called webOS.
The Palm Pre offers amazing features, for example the ability to toggle between applications simply and easily while running more than one application simultaneously with a simple swipe of the finger. And closing an application is done with a flick, thereby wiping it off the screen. Pre is the first mobile phone to come with the inductive charging solution that lets you charge the handset by setting it down on top of the Touchstone charging dock without worrying about connection, orientation or fit. The phone remains active while charging, so you can access the touch screen, watch movies or video, or use the speakerphone.
PC World claims the phone might be a top competitor of the iPhone, which hasn't really had a lot of real competition to date.
Gay marriages expected to begin in Iowa April 24
The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday unanimously upheld a lower-court ruling that rejected a state law restricting marriage to a union between a man and woman. Now gays and lesbians may exchange vows as soon as April 24 following the landmark decision.
The county attorney who defended the law said he would not seek a rehearing. The only recourse for opponents appeared to be a constitutional amendment, which couldn't get on the ballot until 2012 at the earliest.
