THIS IS JUST THE MOOD I'M IN RIGHT NOW

Phyllis Hyman - "LIVING ALL ALONE"

There used to be time in my life when we were lovers
And we shared this apartment together just us two
I think of how we planned to get married
Saying “Love how I used to know you well”
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone
Oh No No No Whoa

Now I love what’s in my life and I find it’s a mellow world
I'm not even the same I'm a different girl
Yesterday I was somebody's baby
Now today I'm a woman on my own
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone

It feels good to have somebody hold you tight
It feels good to have somebody love you right
Who would end all my long and lonely nights?
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all alone
Whoa Oh I can't stand this living all, oouuu all alone

Oh, I don't want to be alone
Oh weeee aaaaaa
Oh I don't want to be alone
We used to be such lovers
We used to care for one another
Aaaaaaaa aaaa aaaa aaaa
I don't want to be, I don't want to be alone
No no, No no
No Oooooooooo No
I don't want to be alone
No No No
Need ya, Love ya
Come back to me oooohhhh
I love you
Oh please, please come back to me baby
Ooooouuu Yeah
I can't stand to be alone
I can't stand it
Don't want to be alone

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

At this time of the year citizens of the United States celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving. This day is seen as the biggest holiday in the U.S. because it focuses on gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast rather than the celebration of a religious event even though the American holiday has religious undertones related to the deliverance of the English settlers by Native Americans after the brutal winter at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The holiday's origins can be traced to harvest festivals which have been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times, and is also celebrated in Canada (but earlier during the month of October).

Whatever the origin this is seen as a day to be thankful for the blessings we all have. I am thankful for all the love and support I've received from family and friends over the past few months who still love me despite the fact I have no job, no money, no man, no prospects of a bright future and face the hazards of a bleak and brutal winter ahead.

I am also thankful that the single-blade razors are safely stored out of sight at the bottom of my toolbox.

Seriously, I am thankful for all the personal gains I've made over the past few months including re-discovering my girlish figure after losing 25 EFFING POUNDS THROUGH DIET AND EXERCISE!!!

Wo-hoo!!!

Some guy even cruised me in the supermarket last night!!! That hasn't happened to me in eons!!!! (Shaddap Danny, Michelle, David...in fact, y'all.....)

So, what are you thankful for on this day?

MUSINGS...

What's worse than paying $1.89 per gallon of gas at the pump?

DRIVING BY THAT SAME GAS STATION THREE DAYS LATER AND SEE THAT THE PRICE IS NOW $1.77!

The recent dramatic drop in gas prices is not only an indicator of the current economic woes facing the country and the world as a whole, but also makes you wonder if there isn't some price manipulation by the oil companies and distributors.

Prices are now falling to below pre-millennium levels.....

Is it my imagination or did Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson yesterday look-and-acted like an nervous schoolboy during the brief press conference held by (can-not-wait-for-him-to-pack-the-U-Haul-and-leave) President Bush?

What's with all of the nervous fidgeting?

The current protests against the passing of Prop 8 in California is see as a re-energizing force of the GLBT community on current issues. This new movement is nick-named 'Stonewall 2.0' i.e. an updated version of the original Stonewall protest which saw the birth of the modern GLBT movement.

Some predict that Stonewall 2.0 will be the driving force to push not only the issue of same-sex marriage, but also federal recognition of non-discrimination of sexual orientation in the workplace and the Matthew Sheppard Act against hate crimes.

WANT TO KNOW WHY U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL COLLAPSED?

On Thursday November 20 U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed 10 minutes into a speech being given during the annual meeting in Washington of the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group.

Mukasey planned to defend the Bush administration's "fundamental reorganization" of the government since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and policies put in place to detain terror suspects. He also was planning to talk about the continuing threat of al-Qaida.

Want to know why he collapsed delivering his defense of the Bush administration policy?

Even the Lord God Almighty could NOT listen any more to the foreign policy bullshit being shoveled by the inept Bush administration and struck Mukasey silent.

That's the moral of this story.

SHOULD OBAMA BE MORE VOCAL ABOUT THE CURRENT ECONOMIC PLIGHT?

The answer is a simple 'no'.

As he said in the past, there can only be one president at a time, and he is the one to call the shots until Obama officially takes over on January 20, 2009.

Besides, at this time Barack Obama does NOT have any real official power - remember, he resigned from the senate on Sunday. He has no authority in congress at this time.

Also, he needs to focus on his game plan for the next 12 months. The currently economic chaos only came to head recently and he - like everyone worldwide - are formulating the best plan to deal with this situation. And this includes taking his time to select the best person to head the Treasury Department to clean up the mess that that Wall Street moron Henry Paulson has created.

And that is more important than the current hullabaloo surrounding his alleged pick of Se Clinton as Secretary of State.

IT'S F-F-F-FRIDAY!!!!!!!

JAMAICA: WHY SURPRISED AT QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS TACTICS BY SPANISH HOTEL COMPANIES?

Headline from today's Jamaica Observer:

ROYAL NO-SHOW

Did stolen sand lawsuit force King and Queen of Spain to call off state visit to Ja?

The article goes on about the case involving sand being stolen from a prime beachfront property and used to bolster the beaches of at least two Spanish-owned tourist resorts in the North Coast of Jamaica. This comes on the heels of other controversial and questionable business practices of Spanish run hotel chains in Jamaica.

And we are surprised by the Spanish disregard for rules and regulations because...?

Remember, this is the European power that decimated the presence of Carib Indians and made extinct the peaceful Arawak Indians of the Caribbean region through slavery and imprisonment in the
1500s, led the charge of the Spanish Inquisition, invaded Mexico, etc.

Do I need to repeat the story of the scorpion and the frog?

King Juan Carlos I & Queen Sophia

THE King and Queen of Spain have cancelled their December state visit to Jamaica, immediately setting off speculation that the decision was triggered by a lawsuit against two Spanish-owned hotels being sued over the alleged theft of an estimated 500 truckloads of sand.

High level government sources confirmed last night that the December 2 to 4 visit by King Juan Carlos and his wife had been scrapped, but no official reasons were given, and the telephones at the Spanish embassy rang without answer.

But it was expected that the Royal couple would have attended functions at two of the Spanish hotels named in the suit, as part of their itinerary.

The state-run Jamaica Information Service (JIS) which was handling the media accreditation for the state visit, plans to call off the process officially today, a spokesperson said.

"The feeling at the palace is that the timing of the visit may be bad because the royal couple could be embarrassed if they landed in the middle of a controversial lawsuit," a well placed Observer source said.

News of the cancellation coincided with the filing of the US$8-million claim on November 17 by Fecilitas Limited, owners of the Coral Spring property in Trelawny from which the sand mysteriously disappeared in July.

Three hotels - two of them, Spanish-owned Riu Jamaicotel and Felicitas Jamaica - were named in the lawsuit filed by former solicitor-general Anthony Hylton on behalf of Felicitas. The third is Palmyra Resort and Spa. A company called Bedrock Building and Aggregates Limited was named as the fourth defendant in the Felicitas claim.

Felicitas is a consortium of 15 of Jamaica's most successful young entrepreneurs who shared a common dream of transforming a prime 64-acre property at Coral Spring near Duncans into an $8-billion beachfront development, featuring 36 six-star, luxury villas with spa, restaurant, amphitheatre and marina in phase one, that would serve as a catalyst for undeveloped Trelawny. The beach was to be the centrepiece of the attraction.

The owners are contending that between June and July 2008, the defendants' servants or agents unlawfully and without consent removed a large quantity of sand from its property at Coral Springs and delivered it to properties owned by Fiesta, Riu and Palmyra.

They are seeking damages for trespass; conversion; or alternatively delivery up of the sand taken from their property; costs; interest at commercial rates and "such further or other relief as the court may deem appropriate". Felicitas estimates its losses at US$8.13 million

The developers are staking their claim on forensic tests carried out by the Marine Geology Unit at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies and the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queen's University, Ontario, Canada which "support a conclusion that samples of sand taken from the defendant hotels' properties are very likely to have come from the Coral Springs property".

The theft of the sand marked one of the few low points, up to this year's US economic fallout, in the local tourism industry where a dramatic boom in hotel construction in Jamaica over the past five years brought new entrants, mainly from Spanish companies such as RIU, Iberostar and The Pinero Group.

The Riu Hotel chain which was involved in another controversy over building breaches near Montego Bay, invested US$250 million in Jamaica during the period.
The cancellation of the Royal visit also coincided with a follow-up call from the Opposition Spokesman on Tourism, Dr Wykeham McNeill yesterday on the Office of the Prime Minister and the security forces to break their silence on the issue of the stolen sand.

"In August, a month after the theft, the country was informed that a report had gone to Cabinet and was being forwarded to the police, but since then there has been a deafening silence on the matter," McNeill complained in a release.

"I am again warning the Government that the longer this silence continues, there will be more rumours and speculation of a cover-up. We the Opposition will not rest until we get an answer as to who was behind the theft of the sand, and why it is taking so long to resolve this case," he added.

Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money

(from CNN.com/US. For full article click here.)

MY COMMENT: although it may bring hardship to the American people, I still say we should demand our congress NOT to provide any more assistance to the Detroit auto companies - these outdated, decrepit and bloated institutions need to fail. How else will greedy two-faced capitalists learn if not from their mistakes?

Don't even get me started on the ineffective trade unions such as the UAW...although such unions were instrumental in the '40 and '50s for implementing the 8 hour work day, the 40-hour work week and other such standards we take for granted, they, like the rest of the capitalist fat-cats need to get in touch with a global economy in the 21st century.

This is right up there with the Wall Street golden parachutes and the luxury vacations for AIG employees.

ABSOLUTELY OFFENSIVE!

Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money
By Josh Levs

(CNN) -- Some lawmakers lashed out at the CEOs of the Big Three auto companies Wednesday for flying private jets to Washington to request taxpayer bailout money.

Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli, left, and Ford CEO Alan Mulally testify on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

"There is a delicious irony in seeing private luxury jets flying into Washington, D.C., and people coming off of them with tin cups in their hand, saying that they're going to be trimming down and streamlining their businesses," Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-New York, told the chief executive officers of Ford, Chrysler and General Motors at a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee.

"It's almost like seeing a guy show up at the soup kitchen in high hat and tuxedo. It kind of makes you a little bit suspicious."

He added, "couldn't you all have downgraded to first class or jet-pooled or something to get here? It would have at least sent a message that you do get it."

Rep. Brad Sherman, D-California, asked the three CEOs to "raise their hand if they flew here commercial. Let the record show, no hands went up. Second, I'm going to ask you to raise your hand if you are planning to sell your jet in place now and fly back commercial. Let the record show, no hands went up."

STAR TREK FANS: get ready to cream your panties....

The new Star Trek trailer is out:

Can you wait until 5-8-09?

MY TWO CENTS FOR TODAY

My fantasy Obama's cabinet selection:

Hillary Clinton - Secretary of State

John McCain - Secretary of Defense

Then again, I'm still waiting on my fantasy husband Paul Walker to show up......

**************************************************

If incumbent Alaska senator Ted Stephens really had any scruples or ethics he would have resigned his post, or at best, concede to Mark Begich when the elections were too close to call.

***************************************************

I know the failure of the Big Three in Detroit would spell disaster for millions of workers, but how else will those stupid automobile manufacturers learn to take their heads out of their asses and not build archaic gas guzzlers and expect to turn a profit?

As Ashton Kutcher said on 'Real Time with Bill Mahr': [sic] "If they want a bailout, they should go to the oil companies they have been in cahoots with...."

(I can't believe I just quoted Ashton Kutcher as a credible critic...!)

******************************************************

In case you weren't aware - Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is a bumbling idiot who couldn't find his way out of a soiled deposit envelope with lights, a search party, and his hands off his balls.....

UNACCEPTABLE, MR. GOLDING

It was with disbelief that I was informed this evening of the shooting incident at the National Arena this past Sunday during the annual conference of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party.

The shooting incident took place within mere feet of the current head of government - Prime Minister Bruce Golding - and resulted in the death of one man, and the injury of two others, as reported in an article in leading newspaper The Jamaica Observer (see below for full article).

Bottom line: Mr. Golding, if your own personnel can not restrain and marshal attendees of your own political party's annual conference and secure your personal safety (as head of government), how can Jamaicans be assured that these same people - appointed by you and currently running, or affiliated with, the Ministry of Defense and National Security - are capable of managing the safety and security of Jamaica and her people?

Mr. Golding, you are faced with one option and one option only: take full responsibility of the entire debacle and personally see to it that whomsoever was in charge of security for the occasion is IMMEDIATELY removed from office (and if they are an expatriate, they must be deported).

Failure to carry out such a decisive measure will result in a loss of credibility of your management of this country's future with regards to crime - the number one critical issue facing Jamaica, her investable future, and the future of her people.

We need leaders, not partisans politics, to lead Jamaica into the future after 18 years of corruption and mis-management.

Which are you, Mr. Golding?

Killing mars JLP confab
Three men shot, labourites blame, stone cops
By Kimmo Matthews Observer staff reporter

Three men were yesterday shot, one fatally, at the National Arena during the 65th annual conference of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), triggering chaos and a hostile stand-off between labourites and police who were blamed for the fatal shooting.

Exactly what caused the shootings was not immediately clear. However, one man attending the conference said it all started inside the arena behind the stage on which Prime Minister and JLP leader Bruce Golding and other Government ministers were seated.

"A from in the arena the shot them start fire right behind where the PM and the other MPs were sitting, yu nuh," said the man who requested anonymity.

"It all started from a scuffle and then all we hear is when the first shot buss' in the building. This was followed by two others."

Party supporters then claimed the men were chased out of the building and shot by police.

The police, however, denied the claim.

"We can confirm that a shooting incident took place at approximately 2:04 pm inside the National Arena at the back of the stage area involving person/s attending the Jamaica Labour Party's annual conference," a senior cop told the Observer.

Last night, the Constabulary Communication Network, the police information arm, said: "Based on early information, one person was shot inside the arena, while another two were shot outside in front of the arena. A 9mm pistol was seized by the police."

The shootings sent JLP supporters on the outside of the National Arena scurrying for cover and screaming in fear as the gunshots rang out minutes before Golding addressed the conference.

"Jesus Christ! Help! Murder!" screamed women and children while some were seen running and carrying two men soaked in blood.

One of the men appeared to have a gaping gunshot wound to his head while the other, whose name was given as Bryan, was seen holding his abdomen.

The incident did not cause chaos inside the arena as JLP officials were able to keep supporters calm. However, outside labourites confronted the police, accusing them of the shootings.

"Murder them murder the youth them. Them can't say a shoot-out, we see with we eyes," the angry supporters said while hurling stones and bottles at the police, who at first stood their ground, then took cover in armoured vehicles.

Last night, party officials condemned the shootings and said they had opened a probe to determine what happened.
The party also said it was shocked and disgusted that the incident "marred what was otherwise a very successful conference".

"The incident arose from an apparent altercation between individuals which led to one being shot dead by the police," the JLP said in a statement. "The party wishes to express its deep regret at this very unfortunate loss of life and injury."

The party said that General-Secretary Karl Samuda has ordered an immediate investigation into all circumstances related to the incident and pledged the party's full co-operation with the police in leaving no stone unturned in unearthing the truth.

"Further, acting on instructions of party leader Bruce Golding, a thorough review of all security arrangements for future party conferences will be immediately undertaken to ensure no recurrence," the JLP said.

During his address to the conference, Golding said: "If anybody who claims to be a supporter of the labour party believes that the method and the measure of this party lies behind the trigger of a gun, for God's sake leave Bustamante's party alone."

"We didn't need any guns when we won the last elections. We don't need any guns to win the next election. I want every MP, every caretaker, every councillor, every constituency executive, every polling division worker, I want us to resolve today that what happened here today must never, ever happen again."

SNL CAN SUCCESSFULLY SURVIVE AFTER THE ELECTION

Last Saturday was the first new Saturday Night Live since the election on Super Tuesday. Some may have wondered if they could maintain the success they had during the election.

The answer is a resounding YES!!

This Saturday's installment was hosted by Paul Rudd (of Clueless fame) with musical guest Beyonce. I've included two clips below, but the best clip featuring surprise guest Justin Timberlake in high heels as a backup dancer for a Beyonce music video is unattainable.

The moral of that issue?

Watch Saturday Night Live on Saturdays!!!!

Enjoy!

EVERYONE'S A CRITIC

NEW MISSION

As some may have noticed, I have not been making regular posts on my blog since the weekend after Super Tuesday. Although some may correctly attribute this to a lack of fevered subject matter now that the election has been won by the candidate backed by this blog site, the absence of new posts can also be attributed to the week I took off to debate what this blog site will now focus on from this point forward.

I am trying to discipline myself to posting some thoughts or other such written communique on a daily basis - no matter what. The subject will be varied - from serious issues such as the fight for gay marriage in California - to downright frivolity as to recorded size of snowflakes in the Westmont area during this winter season.

Therefore, check daily to see what's new and imagined in the fevered mind of this blogger.

The point is that this site will truly reflect the thoughts and comments of this blogger on a daily basis.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE Friday Treats will remain a weekly staple to my numerous female readers!!!

THE OBAMAS

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Malia Obama, Sasha Obama

ON A SUNNY DAY IN 2009

One sunny day in 2009 an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, “I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.”

The Marine looked at the man and said, “Sir, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here.”

The old man said “Okay”, and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, “I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.”

The Marine again told the man, “Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer resides here.”

The man thanked him and again, just walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same U. S. Marine, saying “I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.”

The Marine, somewhat agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, “Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Bush. I've told you already that Mr. Bush is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?”

The old man looked at the Marine and said, “Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it!”

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, “See you tomorrow!”
