The winner - Tanya, a sophisticated, passionate 45-year-old wife and mother of five who lives in California along with her husband of 17 years. Tanya modeled when she was younger, and even claimed the title of Mrs. California International, but says she ‘hung up the pumps’ to raise a family. She describes herself as ‘disciplined, sexy, and enthusiastic about life’ and loves competition because it makes her ‘better.' Tanya’s favorite supermodels are Cindy Crawford, Iman and Beverly Johnson. She defines beauty as ‘knowing who you are, yet still being open to the person you can become.’ Tanya names her eyes as a top feature. She’s very proud that she overcame ‘difficult early childhood cycles of defeat and dysfunction’ and that she has created a healthy positive life for her and her family.
I liked the show because although the judging could be brutal at times, there were no bimbo air-headed twenty-somethings using bad grammar and swearing; this was a show that featured a group of strong women on a path of self discovery.
I am glad with the final selection although I have to admit I was rooting for Bahia, who to me, is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and always, ALWAYS blew me away with her elegant, sophisticated, worldly look. To quote one of the judges, celebrity stylist Robert Verdi, you could always picture Bahia elegantly standing in her friend's kitchen, cigarette in one hand and a martini in the other scolding her friend with, "dahling, why bother cook? Let's go out and eat, my sweet...."
