BYE-BYE ROD!!!!

"BYE BYE ROD
BYE BYE CRAZINESS
HELLO PAT McQUINN
HELL NO I'M NOT GONNA CRY

GOOD-BYE, B-ROD, GOOD-BYE!"

Much speculation has been made nationwide on the reason why the Illinois State Senate voted to impeach Blagojavich, then voted today to remove him from office. Most have wrongly assumed that it was only because of his alleged attempt to sell the senate seat left vacant by President Obama when he assumed office.

WRONG.

That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Former governor Blago has been frustrating the Illinois legislature since his election to a second term in office in 2006 (of which I am ashamed to confess I played a role in. I will never blindly vote along party lines again when I do not like the opposing party's nominee).

Methinks that the position of governor went to his head and and began to affect his rationale:

- he had signs loudly declaring his name and stature posted over all tollway gates in the metro-Chicago area.
- he used his office as leverage for certain bills such as the recent one passed to help modernize the Chicago Transit Authority.
- he failed repeatedly to show up in Springfield (the capital of Illinois) at critical times of legislature.
- his office in Springfield (the capital of Illinois) was vacant more than occupied.
- he alienated himself from his next-in-line and/or persons in positions that should have close ties with the governor's office such as his lieutenant - Pat Quinn, the state attorney general Lisa Madigan, and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan to name a few.
- he had suspicious dealings with various business men that conflicted with the office of governor.

These are just a few of his "indiscretions" while in office - leading to his enemies to slowly sharpen their knives in anticipation of a time of he would be vulnerable.

And that time came today Blago. And BOY, where those knives sharp!

Illinois - say hello to your new governor Pat Quinn.

Born in 1948 in Hinsdale, Illinois, Quinn attended the local Catholic grade-school St. Isaac Jogues. He graduated in 1967 from the what was then an all-male, Catholic school, Fenwick High School[1] in Oak Park, Illinois. While a student at Fenwick, Quinn was the cross country team captain and sports editor of the school newspaper. Quinn went on to graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in Foreign Service. After taking a few years off from education, he received a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University in 1980.[2]

Quinn is divorced and has two sons, Patrick IV and David, born on April 12, 1983 and December 16, 1984, respectively. Both sons, like their father, competed in scholastic sports specializing in track and field events.[3]

Quinn was briefly a practicing tax attorney prior to entering his career in public office. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
