A-HOLE OF THE MONTH - Sen. John McCain

Sorry Meagan, I love you to death but your father has been acting like a real JACKASS recently.

Firstly, for someone who was himself tortured - he is steadfastly sticking to GOP party politics and rather than acknowledge that whoever authorized water-boarding during the Bush administration should be held accountable for the betterment of that black time in American history and to restore the credibility of the U.S. on the world stage - he's instead chosen to spout a "forgive and forget, what's done is done" attitude.

Sure.

I "betcha" he wouldn't be singing the same tune if he saw any chance of persecuting the people who tortured him for five years in Vietnam, now, would he......?

Then there's the entire Caribou-Barbie debacle.

I will always - ALWAYS - hold him accountable for unleashing that Alaskan she-beast on this country. During his interview this morning with the overly-eager 'Meet the Press' host David Gregory, McSame could have dodged commenting on Pale-in-Comparison's recent antics and remained neutral. Instead, he spouted the usual 'she's more than capable to run the country' bullshit even though he knows that he made a SEVERE bad call in judgement when he selected her as his running-mate last year.

But - to cover his ass - he'll defend his selection because to him anything short of support for her will confirm his error in judgement to his detractors. I don't know who he thinks he's fooling 'cause we all know he was trying to get the Hillary supporters with his Palin selection and that strategy back-fired- spectacularly - in his face.

Sen McCain, if you really were the so-called 'maverick' you were heralded to be - you could have really examined the reasons you failed so miserably last election, and use those issues to pull your party together - but you decided to act out the role of 'sore loser' and criticize everything THE WINNER is trying to accomplish while licking your wounds....

Soooo, to doddering Grandpa John McCain I am awarding him July's 'Asshole of the Month' prize - because you really, really, REALLY deserve that recognition.

GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH

Yesterday's announcement by Alaska's publicity hungry governor Sarah Palin that she was resigning as governor by the end of July sent shock waves throughout the country. All Democrats - and some Republicans - are waking up this morning hung over from celebrating at this unexpected but welcomed development.

Now, speculation runs rife about the reasons Pale-in-comparison resigned from her post. Some are even predicting this announcement comes ahead of a major scandal that's about to break.

Regardless of the reason this latest stunt by the former beauty pageant contestant only underscores her erratic behavior and inexperience of dealing with the national spotlight, and her piss-poor decision-making skills.

Let her leave office to go around and kiss the asses of the right-wing fanatics and nut jobs that support her - I predict she will amount to nothing more than a circus side-show attraction after she leaves office in late July.

Good riddance to very, very, VERY bad white-trash rubbish.

And shut the trailer-door on you way out, will ya?

THE 2008 U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - an ugly but necessary turning point in American history

This presidential election in the U.S. is one that will go down in history books...and all for the wrong reasons. Reports coming in from around the country where fear and intimidation is being used against supporters of Barack Obama.

In North Carolina Obama supporters found their tyres slashed after an Obama rally. There are also reports of jeering and vocal intimidation by supporters of the McCain/Palin ticket to early voters.

Also in North Carolina the body of a dead black bear was found wrapped in Obama Signs. (click here.)

In Ohio, someone put up as his Halloween decoration the effigy of a ghost hung by a noose with the word OBAMA clearly painted on the front, gently swinging over a McCain/Palin sign. The man was unapologetic and said is WAS intended as a racist message and not political one.

Most of these acts were carried out by self-declared Republicans.

I am still searching the internet for any similar reports being carried out by Obama supporters but have not found any as yet.

Then there is the congresswoman from Minnesota - Rep Michele Bachmann (R) - who told MSNBC's Chris Matthews during Friday's broadcast of Hardball with Chris Matthews insinuated (a la McCarthy style) that there needs to an investigation into members of congress to find out who are "pro-American and anti-American".

These are just a few incidents that have been cropping up since the start of early polling for this contentious election. I think that the election will bring out the true colors of the American people, and this should be viewed to be a good thing - it will force all Americans to take a good, long look at themselves as a people in the mirror to see if they have integrated and grown socially as a nation. The answer will be: somewhat, but not as much as we thought.

The problem is that there is a lot of hate and ignorance out there that is being cultivated for use by power-hungry despots who really do not really care about the welfare of the American people.

Now let me be clear - taking advantage of the mindset of rampant ignorance is NOT unique to the USA; on the contrary, it is unfortunately widespread throughout the world. So are the opportunists who use it for their ambitious agenda.

Regardless of whoever wins the 2008 U.S. presidential election one thing is sure: these incidents are a cold, harsh dose of reality to self-righteous Americans who think the the USA is not without problems and that we should force our supposed progressive ideas on other countries and nations through armed invasion or financial intimidation.

They will now be forced to realize that they have a ton of work to do in their own backyard instead

FOR EVERY OBAMA FANATIC, THERE'S A REPUBLICAN IN PALIN DENIAL

Over the past few days, listening to the political pundits dissect and analyze the vice-presidential debate held last Thursday, I have come to a stark realization of a new phenomenon: the oblivious Palin disciple.  
 
The Palin disciple is a Republican who - regardless of rational criticism of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's grasp of national issues - still delude themselves that she is ready at a moment's notice to take control of the highest office in the land and the most powerful position in the world. 
 
Let's put this delusion into the harsh light of cold reality: if (God/Yahweh/Allah/Krishna/Buddha forbid) something should happen to Barack Obama that he is unable to carry on the duties of president, are we confident that Senator Joe Biden is capable of filling his spot at a moment's notice?  
 
The answer is a very confident YES.  
 
If something should happen to John McCain that he is unable to carry on the duties of president, are we confident that Governor Sarah Palin is capable of filling his spot at a moment's notice?  
 
The answer is a loud and resounding NO!  
 
And before any Republican can repeat the much overused phrase, "she has executive experience as a governor", let me remind you of another governor who also had executive experience: GEORGE W. BUSH.  
 
Do I really, REALLY, need to finish that line of thought?  
 
Contributing NEWSWEEK bi-partisan reporter Fareed Zakaria said in an recent article (published 9-20-08) "Can we now admit the obvious? Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to be vice president. She is a feisty, charismatic politician who has done some good things in Alaska. But she has never spent a day thinking about any important national or international issue, and this is a hell of a time to start." He ends his article by hinting that John McCain is now running a campaign only for personal victory: "In these times, for John McCain to have chosen this person to be his running mate is fundamentally irresponsible. To quote a comment made by Karen Tumulty of TIME Magazine on today's airing of ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos with regards to the large viewership of the VP debate (est. 72 million viewers): "[sic] a lot of people tuned in for the same reason they watch auto racing; they thought there might have been a big crash with a fireball at the end of it.." A lot of people saw the CBS interviews and are either disappointed, amused, or simply angry - NOT inspired. Watching a VP debate in eager anticipation of seeing a particular candidate fumble and make an ass of herself is NOT a vote of confidence in the ticket, my dear Republicans, no matter how you try to spin it. 
 
And this is not a sentiment shared only by die-hard partisan Democrats or the so called liberal media. Palin's obvious lack of knowledge of national and international issues is a concern being openly expressed by a number of known conservatives in the media (Kathleen Parker of the Washington Post Writers Group, "The Palin Problem" 9-26-08), and being discussed in quiet dismay in Republican social circles. Still, die-hard Palin-Republicans and other such conservative pundits - rather than provide some constructive criticism of their candidate to lend credibility to their defense of the ticket - deliver unrealistic partisan answers with a very obvious "I-drank-the-Kool-Aid" look plastered on their faces, tempered with a "if His Holiness McCain says she's qualified - then she's qualified!" rationale. 
 
Other members of the Republican Party, in an attempt to defend Gov Palin's lack-luster performance, have voiced their frustration that the media is treating Obama as a rock star by failing to publicize his gaffes.  
 
Not true.  
 
ALL MEDIA have willingly pointed out errors made by the Obama/Biden campaign, and on even more than one occasion said that Obama has fudged some of the facts about McCain in rally speeches. But these incidents are few and far between, and are NOTHING in comparison to the blatant Rove-ian tactics that are the backbone of the McCain/Palin ticket.  
 
Also, labeling ALL media - including the major networks of ABC, CBS and NBC as "the liberal media" - with the exception of the Fox News Channel is NOT fooling anyone either.  
 
Simply put, Obama is running a cautious, careful campaign and is taking care not to make irrational and rash decisions, and he has every right to be guarded. If he loses his temper or makes a sudden rash comment he may come across as "militant", something that will not sit well with voters in southern states, or other such states with an apartheid mentality.  
 
McCain, on the other hand, is running his campaign on the fly and with gut instinct - a fact confirmed by campaign insiders. This seems to be very much in keeping with the style of Sen. McCain, which is why he lacked initial support by his own party. And his decisions lately has come into question by all.  
 
It is now apparent that Republicans now find themselves in the same position that Democrats found themselves in 2004 with regards to John Kerry/John Edwards: they are supporting the McCain/Palin ticket only because they are following party lines, and not because they think that the ticket is a sound one. Remember, McCain did NOT have the support of the Republican Party when he decided to run for president, and that feeling, although diminished during the first ten days after the RNC convention, has resurfaced due to the poor performance of Gov Palin in her infamous CBS interviews, and bolstered with the erratic behavior of Sen. McCain during the first weeks of the Wall Street/financial crisis.  
 
This coming week is going to be interesting - and the McCain campaign has already started playing dirty, with Gov Palin at a recent rally trying to link Obama with a so-called domestic terrorist group of the 70s.  
 
Be careful of what you throw McCain; you have the smear of the Keating 5 scandal lurking in your history, an incident that has far too many similarities with the current financial crisis on Wall Street and the banking sector. Maybe that gut feeling is just indigestion over your "Palin" decision.  

I am seriously thinking of NOT watching tonight's vice-presidential debate

"What?" some of you may think when you read this header, "you live for this sort of stuff!"  

Yes, I have been a close follower of the electoral process for the past 12 months but this campaign took a nasty turn over the past two weeks.  

To recap: at one point during the primaries I voiced that if Sen. Hillary Clinton did not win the nomination I would consider voting for John McCain. At that time I was not convinced that Obama was the right choice, a stance I am publicly happy to renounce.  

Look - I'm no fool; I expected that each side would take digs at the other pointing out why their adversary should not be elected for the position. And I even welcomed that possibility because when one side points out their perceived flaw of the opposing candidate, they may actually be opening a door of clarity to undecided voters that the intended flaw may actually be a strength in their eyes. (Example - some may cite Obama's short stint in Washington as a weakness, but others may interpret this as proof that he is not influenced or tainted with Washington corruption and is in fact a fresh face with fresh ideas.)  

Even after McCain gave his acceptance speech I was willing to admit that if he won the election I thought he could do a passable job - despite his VP selection.  

Then McCain began to show his true colors. He used Karl Rove-ian tactics, such as using irrelevant matters like the "pig-in-a-lipstick" farce as a distraction to the hollowness of his campaign. He began to spout bold-faced lies even though his own video-taped testimonies were being broadcast.  

Three weeks ago the economy began to tank - and his poor judgment began to show. It started when he announced after the Lehman Brothers failure that the "fundamentals of the economy are strong", then declaring that he was supposedly suspending his campaign before flying to Washington to take credit for work on the bailout bill he didn't do, used theatrics such as threatening to not participate in the first presidential debate, and finally this past Monday the piece-de-resistance: taking credit for the passing of the bailout bill BEFORE it was voted on in the house and subsequently defeated.  

By this time my former passiveness at accepting that if he won may be tolerable had turned into sheer anger and disgust at the IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THIS MAN with his campaign.  

The main reason I am such a strong and vocal supporter of Barack Obama is because I've noticed positive traits in him that speaks volumes about him as a person. He learns from his mistakes and grows from it. He also does not make rash, knee-jerk decisions: Example: when tapes of the irrational Rev Jeremiah Wright surfaced, Obama gave Rev Wright the benefit of the doubt and stood by the pastor and chose not throw him under the bus just to save face despite pressure and criticism from the public to do so. When Rev Wright made waves again, Obama then criticized him and said Rev Wright should be mindful of his words. When the (by this time) notorious reverend made headlines a third time - Obama then publically cut all ties with him.  

This past weekend the pundits declared that Obama failed to use personal experiences to relate to voters and could have been seen as cold and aloof during the presidential debate. Yesterday, in a speech at a rally in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, Obama used a referenced to his mother's battle with cancer to relate to his listeners the need of a better health care system.  

Obama listens to sound criticism and uses it to temper his judgment, not cloud his decisions. And I really do believe that he wants to effect change for a better America.  

John McCain had a duty to run a campaign for the betterment of this country and he has made it VERY CLEAR that he is only running for his own personal gain.  

Right now John McCain campaign is only grandstanding, and it is now apparent that he chose Gov Sarah Palin only as a gimmick to bring life back to his campaign and NOT because she is qualified for the office of vice president. Clips of her interview with Katie Couric of CBS shows this is someone NOT familiar with any, ANY, of the issues important to this country. Even die-hard conservatives in the Republican Party are calling for her to step down from the ticket.  

Palin's only strength is to make mean sarcastic barbs at her enemies while avoiding a outright answer. To me she is the epitome of the perceived worst of women's traits: catty, scornful, smile-in-you-face-as-she-stabs-you-in-the-back. This to me is extremely offensive as NONE of the women I know and treasure are anything like that - and I see her as an insult to them.  

I'm not sure I can sit through 90 minutes of Palin's shrill, grating voice as she either dodges factual answers through nasty jabs at Sen. Obama or Sen. Joe Biden (who by-the way, has a reputation for saying the wrong things at the wrong time), or as she smiles and makes a smart ass remark that will cause me to face the dis-heartening truth: those actions appeals to the ignorant residents of small towns such as Bumfuck, Alabama or Redneck Trailer Park, Mississippi. They see this as a strength, not a weakness.  

Maybe this evening I'll watch "Ironman" instead and wait for the the TV journalists to provide a recap of the debate, a task they are currently salivating in anticipation for.

OR...maybe I could down a 2-liter bottle of red-wine AND watch the debate; I'll be too numb and drunk to care.

While sitting at home with NOTHING TO DO while I wait for the end of the world I have to admit that I am absolutely RIVETED by the events of the past week-and-a-half.

Although the financial crisis is not good news for those trying to find work (this winter I'll be pan-handling at the corner of Michigan and Chicago Streets in front of Ralph Lauren - I may be homeless but I'll always have my sense of style, although I'd rather beg in front of Hermes but that spot has already been staked out by a foreclosed homeowner) it has provided the various news channels with a FODDER of events to cover, analyze, debunk, speculate, salivate, etc.

And I am so hooked on this. NOW I know how those persons addicted to the OJ trial in in the '90s felt!

This year has been a bonanza of political and newsworthy events - first with the primaries featuring the contentious fight between Hillary and Barack, then the Summer Olympics and the strong showing of Jamaica athletes in track-and-field,

THEN the party conventions...but they saved the best for last:

About today's events - WHAT THE FUCK?! Are he and Pale-in-Comparison snorting some of Columbia's finest before making statements? I swear, the McSame/Pale-in-Comparison campaign is the gift that keeps on giving!!

Did anyone see Katie Couric's interview of Pale-in-Comparison on the CBS Evening News today? The overall interview seemed contrived from programmed and rehearsed Rethuglican potshots, but Pale-in-Comparison's answer to the last question from Ms Couric had me howling with laughter.

Couric: But he’s been in Congress for 26 years. He’s been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.

Palin: He’s also known as the maverick though, taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he’s been talking about - the need to reform government.

Couric: But can you give me any other concrete examples? Because I know you’ve said Barack Obama is a lot of talk and no action. Can you give me any other examples in his 26 years of John McCain truly taking a stand on this?

Palin: I can give you examples of things that John McCain has done, that has shown his foresight, his pragmatism, and his leadership abilities. And that is what America needs today.

Couric: I’m just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

Palin: I’ll try to find you some and I’ll bring them to ya.

I'll try to find you some and bring them to ya?! Where the hell does she think she is - talking with a PTA president or principal?!

And don't get me started on McSame's so-called cancelling of his campaign to fly to Washington to "do what he can".....oh yeah, I shared my frustration on that earlier today. But seriously, first agreeing to issue a bi-partisan joint statement, then stating to stop campaigning to "rescue" the bailout bill in Washington? THEN saying that he may not participate in the presidential debate?

And NOW, the press has dug up video of Pale-in-Comparison at her home church being blessed by her Kenyan preacher for protection from WITCHCRAFT?

That'll sit well with the right-nuts.....sorry.... right-wing base of the Rethuglican party!

Trust me - the networks have been creaming their panties over all of this. BUT.....I am sensing a growing air of frustration and irritation from reporters and anchors at the antics of the MCSame/Pale-in-Comparison campaign....which is not good. If they're not careful they may turn off the public with only negative reporting on the McSame/Pale-in-Comparison ticket.

Okay, I am now going to make my soul-cleansing confession on behalf of all Democrats:

Sarah Pale-in-Comparison stands for EVERYTHING I loathe in a woman - loud, obnoxious, grating accent, lying without blinking, religious zealot, back-stabbing bitch, use-her-tits-for-advancement then accuse men of sexism....ARRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

(Thank God/Allah/Yahweh/Krishna/Buddha that I am surrounded by special, loving, strong, independent, no-nonsense women who although are pushy with me, do it for my own good; otherwise I'd be scarred for life and turn gay. Oh, wait........)

And John McSame's deer-in-the-headlights indifference of the lies being spread by his campaign and his running mate has made me lose all respect for him.

AND THEY (Republicans) WILL NOT OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THEIR PARTY-BACKED ADMINISTRATION IS PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT FINANCIAL WOES OF WALL STREET.

"Oh yeah, we believe that a free market with minimum regulation is best", but when that same minimum regulated market - funded with the blood,sweat and tears of faithfull hard working Americans - is ruined by corporate greed due to poor administration and said implemented under-regulation that THEY pushed during their 15-odd years in control of Congress and the Senate, they are silent on the issue.

Tonight I watched (after a few necessary mind-numbing drinks) the speech of RNC vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

After all, no one - not even, it seems, John McSame - knew exactly who this person was. The only way to know the competition is to listen to their side of the story.

Firstly, I had to endure the low-blow jabs of former (and much over-hyped and over-rated) mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani. Blow after below-the-groin blow he laid into the DNC and it's candidates. That was to be expected. He has been reduced from former RNC presidential hopeful (with 0 votes in the primaries) to RNC grunt. Where he stepped over the line was a direct attack on the city of Chicago. His statement that serving as a "community leader in the suburbs of the third largest city in the nation was somehow inconsequential" (sic) was an outright declaration of war to the residents of Chicago. I mean, the McSame campaign probably figured, "Hey! We won't get any votes there so why not level one at them...", but did they not think ahead that the 10 million residents of the Chicagoland area who might take offense at that remark have relatives in other states that they would share their ire with?

(Remember that '70s ad for Faberge shampoo? "They'll tell two friends..and THEY'LL tell two friends....and so on...and so on...").

Kudos to Giuliani though - he mentioned 9/11 only ONCE this time..........

Then came the main act herself - Sarah Palin.

What would she be like? Will she come across as a strong confident woman? Will she somehow prove the naysayers wrong and put forth strong arguments?

No, in my opinion - she came across as her true self: a narrow-minded, back-woods, back-stabbing bitch. T

HIS is the person who McSame thinks will be able to fill the role of president if something should happen to him (if he is elected as president)? This redneck hate-spewing religious zealot?

She made reference to the fact that persons expressed concern that she should be spending more time with her children - why didn't they make the same claims to the male candidates of this campaign?

BECAUSE, STUPID, IF GOD/YAHWEH/ALLAH/KRISHNA/BUDDHA INTENDED FOR MEN TO BEAR AND NURTURE CHILDREN HE WOULD HAVE GIVEN US VAGINAS AND LACTATING BREASTS!!!!!!!

If you were a well known public figure you could take that chance. When you're a little known public official from a remote state you're only setting yourself up for the ire of investigative journalists. And that is a mean crowd to pick a fight; remember Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein?

Now instead of looking forward to a riveting election campaign I am having flashbacks to the 2004 campaign - one side rooting for change and a new direction; the other side basing they're campaign on ignorance stoked on manufactured patriotism.

Suddenly I feel very afraid......

But one thing was clear: Sarah, you are no Hillary Clinton. You are Pale-in-Comparison.

And let's hope the voting public sees you for what your truly are: a Pale-imitation.

G W BUSH ADDRESSES REPUBLICAN CONVENTION...

...and spouts his usual rhetoric and bullshit:

"...we live in a dangerous world..."

"..we must remember the events of September 11..."

"..we need someone who will protect us from the dangers of the world..."

Well, DUH!!!! It's written in the U.S. constitution as one of the duties of a sitting president!

Dubya, Americans are not dumb (although this statement might be called into question as they voted you in for a second term in 2004) - they know that these are difficult times and that we need to be on our guard to ensure that our shores are protected.

Your speech last night only reinforced what his presidency has been all about - administering through fear and promoting ignorance rather than understanding.

Your inept administration has squandered any goodwill other nations felt towards the U.S.A. before you came into power.

YOU made the world more dangerous for Americans through arrogance and muscle-flexing: Americans and the U.S.A. are hated now more than ever in modern history by the rest of the world - thanks to your blunders.

Your presentation last night only underscored the glaring fact: your time in the White House is up.

And your reasons endorsing McSame is a rallying cry to all voters NOT to select the GOP ticket this November.

Let's see what the 'hockey mom' from Alaska has to say tonight......and I predict her speech will draw even more numbers than Obama's speech due to curiosity of who this person is.

God/Allah/Yahweh/Krishna/Buddha help us.......

GOP VICE-PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE PALIN COMES WITH A LOT OF BAGGAGE

Although selecting Alaska governor Sarah Palin as the vice-president candidate for the Republican party's presidential ticket is seen by some as a savvy move, she comes to the table with a lot of baggage:

1. She has nil foreign experience - she only obtained her US passport in 2007 so she could visit the Alaskan National Guard deployed in Iraq.

2. She has limited experience in political office - only serving a brief stint as mayor for a town of approximately 9,000 before her 18 month stint as governor of Alaska, which with just over 680 thousand residents is ranked 47th of all states with regards to populous.

(Some may say Obama also little or no experience but at least he was selected through due process and not as a strategic political move.)

3. Although (legally) vetted by the McSame campaign, she has not been vetted by the harshest of critics - the press corp and the public. Already, they are out in full force gathering information in this candidate and we KNOW they will dig up something.

4. She recently announced that her unmarried 17 year-old daughter is 5 months pregnant for a 18 year-old high-school hockey player. Great family values promotion there.

5. Palin is under investigation for abuse of powers for attempting to have her ex-brother-in-law fired to settle a personal family score.

6. There are reports she left the town she mayored(?) in debt over frivolous pork-barrel projects that failed to benefit the community she administered.

These and other issues are coming to light less than one week after the VP announcement, and the jury is still out whether they will help of hinder the GOP presidential ticket.

To quote gay icon Betty Davis, "Hang on boys, it's going to be a BUMPY ride! "

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THE GOP PRESIDENTIAL TICKET?

I don't even know how - or where - to start. I'm not sure if my opinion is emotionally based; I could be subconsciously seething in rage at McSame for stealing the thunder away from the brilliant speech given by DNC presidential candidate Barack Obama (which I watched with other fellow Democrats at a viewing party organized by MoveOn.org).

This was to be Obama's moment, McSame, and you orchestrated an attention-grabbing political move. Your selection actually re-energized the conservative base of your party, put your campaign back in the public lime-light, evened your ratings compared against Obama's in the polls. In the hours after the announcement of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as your VP running mate your campaign raised US$4 million in one day. You gave hope to those fanatical pro-choice, gun-toting right-wing evangelicals. You reminded people not to take you for granted: you were at the bottom of the GOP list of presidential hopefuls at the start of this campaign eight months ago, and you proved all naysayers wrong by clinching your party's nomination.

How dare you! This is our (the DNC) election! We, the Democrats, had this thing in the bag!

Sure, we have been squabbling amongst ourselves between supporting Obama and/or Clinton, but that won't weaken our chances - will it?

I mean, we took the American voting public for granted assuming that they will automatically vote 'Democrat' to get rid of 'Dubya' cause they wouldn't keep the Republicans in power - would they?

Stop showing authority by calling the shots at the GOP convention in Minnesota!

Stop demonstrating sensible choices by demanding the toning down of the GOP convention to show consideration to those affected by Hurricane Gustav!

Do you honestly think we will be glued to the television during the telecast speeches of Ms. Palin and yourself to evaluate the GOP ticket?

We are to win this gubernational election!

I demand that you cease and desist your claim to the presidency!

OUT OF CURIOSITY I VISITED A FEW REPUBLICAN BLOGSITES....I NOW FEEL SO UNCLEAN AND TAINTED..

After the surprise announcement yesterday of Alaska governor Sarah Palin being selected as John McCain's running mate in the gubernational election (to be addressed in another posting), I decided to spend time on the internet reading the reaction of both sides to the announcement.

I visited my usual fare - Towleroad - and read the comments made by readers on the announcement. (Click here to indulge - they're actually funny as well as insightful.) The opinionated queens were out in full force spewing catty remarks by the ton. My overall impression (when you got past the name-calling; these queens crack me up) was that although they think it was a bold move by McCain, it will eventually backfire on him. The other most expressed emotion was....fear, fear that if McSame does win this election (God/Allah/Yahweh/Buddah/Krishna forbid!) it will set back the GLBT movement by 100 years - a feeling I also echo.

After an overdose of far-left Democratic views and commentary I decided to take a "fair and balanced" approach...and visit the far right-side of the political world. Taking a very, very, VERY deep breath I typed in the url www.foxnews.com and hit ENTER.

The first few minutes of browsing the website of the 'unofficial" mouthpiece of the Republican party was not as nauseating as I thought it would be; they even seem to have more stories about the DNC convention than on the selection of Palin as VP for the GOP ticket. (I still, however, have a fear that my short visit was noted and that somewhere on my lap top's hard-drive lurks spyware that was covertly added.)

"Hmmm," I thought to myself, "I wonder what the chatter is about in the blogs of Republicans..."

And with that thought I Googled 'republican blogs' and went a little sight-seeing.

Ten minutes later I was reeling from the hate and venom from a particular website that extolled the view of "Why I Won't Vote for a N**er", on top of the previous blog site that began with Bible-thumping reasons why Palin was a great choice.

I quickly closed my browser hoping to erase what I just experienced, and decided my brief foray in to Republicanland was the most time I'll ever want to spend in that depraved environment.

I felt as if I had taken a roll in the mud of prejudice and ignorance.

Then it hit me - if America could be duped into voting Bush in for a second term, what is stopping them from making a second terrible mistake and voting in an rich, hot-headed aging senator and a greenhorn former beauty queen/anti-feminist/anti- GLBT?

My nausea just returned...
